WRIGHT PATTERSON AIR FORCE MUSEUM

The Museum’s galleries present military aviation history, boasting more than 400 aerospace vehicles, many rare and one-of-a-kind, along with thousands of historical items and powerful sensory exhibits will astound you. The galleries connect the Wright Brothers’ legacy with today’s stealth and precision.

The National Museum of the United States Air Force provides the general public with an awe-inspiring glimpse of the service's rich history and incredible capabilities. It is the world's largest military air and space museum.

We will also be visiting the Presidential Gallery. Special Air Mission (SAM) 26000, Kennedy’s Air Force One, is exhibited in the museum’s Presidential Gallery. Kennedy flew aboard SAM 26000 to Dallas, Texas, where he was assassinated on Nov. 22, 1963-and it was on this airplane that Vice President Lyndon B Johnson was sworn in as the new president. SAM 26000 then carried Kennedy’s body and Johnson back to Washington, DC. When visitors walk through this aircraft, they have the opportunity to be in one of the most historic places on earth. Stand in a place that shaped American History. To access the aircraft, visitors ride a shuttle bus from the main museum complex to the Presidential Gallery, which is located on a controlled-access portion of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. We are scheduled to visit the gallery at 11AM.

Note: A current government-issued photo ID (i.e. state ID or driver's license) is required for citizens of the U.S. and U.S. territories over age 18. Those under age 18 must be escorted by an adult(one adult per two children); children are not required to produce identification when accompanying their parents.  For security reasons, all bags are subject to search, and backpacks, packages and large camera cases are not permitted within the museum.

Dinner at Milano’s Restaurant on the return trip.
